History of CTE Capoeiragem

The CTE Capoeiragem Association (Center of Training and Studies in the art of capoeira), was created 10 years ago in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil by Ricardo Carvalho (Mestre Balão). The association’s purpose is to educate using the Afro-Brazilian art and culture. It also produces responsible and faithful citizens to their respective families and communities.
It is the duty of CTE Capoeiragem to preserve and further cultivate the art of capoeira within Brazil. The CTE Capoeiragem is established in other foreign countries through out Europe, USA, Australia and the Middle East. Always emphasizing that culture gives people character and identity. In this matter, CTE Capoeiragem realizes the importance of a cultural exchange event that brings together different capoeira schools from all around the world.

Contra-Mestre Dilaho is the instructor for CTELV. His mentors and mestres are Suassuna and Balao, both from Bahia as well. He is a technician in Physical Education and has been teaching the art of capoeira for 16 years. He coordinates all work related to CTE Capoeiragem group all over the south of Bahia which includes social work and charity. He has participated and taught workshops in several capoeira meetings (batizados) all over the United States as well as France, Germany, Portugal, Spain and Mexico.
